Stage 1: Preparation and Brief – Defining the Dream
Now that we’ve gotten to know you, it’s time to take all those ideas and condense them down into a cohesive brief. Welcome to Stage 1: Preparation and Brief—the stage where dreams meet reality. Here, we work closely with you to develop a clear and detailed project brief. This document becomes our compass, guiding every design decision and ensuring that your vision stays front and centre throughout the entire process.
During this phase, we also start diving into more practical considerations. What’s the budget? What’s the timeline? Are there any specific site constraints or local planning requirements that we need to keep in mind? We take these logistical factors and weave them into the design narrative so that every decision is informed and purposeful.
As architects, this is where the creative and technical parts of our brains join forces. We explore various design options, sketch out initial concepts, and play with ideas that will shape the project’s form and function. At Stage 2, the ideas really start to flow. This is the Concept Design phase, where imagination and creativity take centre stage. Armed with the project brief, we begin exploring different design options that will bring your vision to life.
We sketch, we model, we imagine. We draw inspiration from the site, the surroundings, and even the wider world of art, history, and culture. But don’t worry—it’s not just abstract doodles on a napkin (although those do have their place). Our concepts are grounded in practicality, with every design choice backed by solid reasoning. We work with technology and innovative solutions to work in parallels with the timeless power of pen, paper, and hands-on craftsmanship to bring our ideas to life.
As we refine the design, we present our concepts to you, inviting your feedback and collaboration. It’s a fluid process of give and take, where your insights help shape the final vision. Stage 3: Spatial Coordination – Precision Meets Creativity
With the concept approved, it’s time to get into the nuts and bolts of the design. This brings us to Stage 3: Spatial Coordination, formerly known as Developed Design. Here, we begin to refine the design into something more concrete (pun intended), fleshing out the details and ensuring that everything will work together seamlessly.
