Design Approach

Working within an existing basement required a considered and pragmatic design approach.

Rather than forcing a standardised solution, the design responded directly to the physical constraints of the building, making intelligent use of the available footprint while creating a facility that feels generous, contemporary and enjoyable to use.

Particular attention was given to acoustic design due to the court’s proximity to neighbouring cinema spaces. Close coordination with the wider consultant team enabled appropriate acoustic mitigation to be incorporated, reducing noise transfer while maintaining the character and usability of the facility.

The project demonstrates how thoughtful interior architecture and technical coordination can successfully repurpose constrained spaces into engaging recreational environments.

Collaboration

Delivered in partnership with Crofton Interiors, the project combined interior architecture, technical coordination and construction expertise to successfully integrate a specialist recreational facility within a complex existing building. Close collaboration with the wider consultant team ensured architectural, acoustic and building services requirements were carefully coordinated throughout design and construction.
