Atelier Ellis Architects collaborated with Crofton Interiors to deliver the interior architecture and workplace design for the back-of-house operational facilities at Six Senses London within the landmark Whiteley redevelopment.
Working within challenging existing ancillary accommodation, we transformed underutilised spaces into high-quality staff workplaces that support the day-to-day operation of one of the world’s leading luxury hospitality brands. Every environment was carefully planned to balance operational efficiency, staff wellbeing and the exacting standards expected of Six Senses.
The Brief
Located within the iconic Whiteley redevelopment in west London, Six Senses required a series of operational support spaces to accommodate its growing hotel team.
The challenge was not simply to fit offices into an existing building, but to reimagine constrained ancillary accommodation into purpose-designed environments that could support hotel operations while meeting demanding technical, operational and hospitality standards. The project formed part of a complex live construction environment involving multiple consultants, contractors and stakeholders.
Our Response
Working in close collaboration with Crofton Interiors, Atelier Ellis Architects led the interior architectural design of the operational workplace, translating Six Senses’ functional requirements into a coordinated series of efficient, people-focused environments.
Every space was carefully planned to maximise the available footprint while accommodating staff offices, meeting rooms, changing facilities, welfare spaces and operational support areas. By understanding how hotel teams work behind the scenes, we created layouts that improve circulation, enhance staff wellbeing and support the seamless delivery of an exceptional guest experience.
Alongside spatial planning, we coordinated complex building services integration, ensuring the architectural design worked harmoniously with mechanical, electrical and fire protection systems within the constraints of the existing building.
